Personal Survival Techniques(STCW Reg VI/1 Section A-VI/1 para 2.1.1)
The STCW Survival course is similar to the RYA one day survival course and can be used for Commercial Endorsements. It’s a one day course based in the classroom and in a pool Covering essential basic knowledge and experience of personal survival principles and techniques that can be applied to maximise chances in a survival situation.

STCW Elementary First Aid (STCW Reg VI/1 Section A-VI/1 para 2.1.3)
Again, similar to the RYA 1 day First Aid course and can be used as the required first aid certificate for both Commercial Endorsements and RYA Instructors. The certificate is valid for 5 years whereas the RYA certificate is valid for 3. The course gives a foundation knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency and covers the use of Category C first Aid kits.

STCW Basic Training Package Offer
We also offer the other elements of STCW Basic Training for those looking to work overseas. Our STCW Basic Training elements have been scheduled over consecutive days. If you need to complete all elements, we have reduced the price to £300 (excluding the Fire Course). The Elements need to be booked at the same time but don’t need to be completed in the same month, offering more flexibility for the same price.

STCW Enhanced Basic Training Package Offer
The Enhanced package includes the Basic Elements of Survival, First Aid and PSSR and the 1 day Proficiency in Designated Security Duties courses. The price of this package has been reduced to £400 (excluding the Fire Course).

The RYA VHF SRC Online course can be added to the Enhanced package for £50 (not including the £60 RYA Exam Fee) as long as it’s all purchased together.

Super yacht package
For people intending to work on Superyachts, we have put together the following package at a reduced price of £750 to help you ensure that you have the necessary qualifications. The training is 6 days overall and comprises the following:

MCA STCW Personal Survival Techniques
MCA STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilties
MCA STCW Proficiency Designated Security Duties
RYA Powerboat Level 2

The Fire course is a requirement of STCW Basic Training and would need to be booked via the Fire Service.

Our classroom is located in Turnchapel Wharf in Plymouth with easy access to the major routes from Devon and Cornwall being about 15 minutes from the A38. To the East, the end of the M5 at Exeter is just under 55 minutes away and to the West Falmouth is under 2 hours. Plymouth train station is about 20 minutes away with frequent trains to London and the Midlands.

MCA STCW Basic training encompasses four elements or courses. These courses arm you with an understanding in firefighting and use of fire fighting equipment; reacting to emergency situations and evacuation procedures; sea survival and safety at sea; and first aid knowledge.
